Betsson Group Secures Licenses for Online Betting and Casino Operations in Peru

The Swedish gaming giant, Betsson Group, has announced that it has been granted licenses to operate sports betting and online casino services in Peru’s regulated market. The licenses, secured under the Betsson and Betsafe brands, were issued by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), the body responsible for regulating the online gaming sector.

In a statement, the company expressed optimism about obtaining licenses for its Inkabet brand soon. Inkabet, a sports betting and online casino business with a strong presence in Peru, was acquired by Betsson Group in 2021.

Betsson highlighted its long-standing presence in Latin America, noting that it began its “Latin American adventure” in 2008. Since then, the company claims to have become “the most recognized sports betting house in Peru.” In 2019, Betsson further solidified its position in the country with the launch of its Betsafe brand.

In addition to these new licenses, the group also holds licenses in two other key regional markets: Colombia and Argentina. Within Argentina, Betsson operates in the City of Buenos Aires and the provinces of Buenos Aires and Córdoba.

Pontus Lindwall, President and CEO of Betsson Group, commented on the development: “We were very eager for Peru to introduce local regulation, and we are very pleased with the granting of these licenses. With this announcement, we affirm our commitment to the local economy and the country’s new regulatory framework.”

Several months ago, Lindwall had expressed the Swedish giant’s interest in the Peruvian regulatory process, stating that they were ready to “take advantage” of this market.
