Peru Issues Licenses for Online Sports Betting and Gaming

The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) has announced that 67 brands have been authorized to operate regulated online sports betting and gaming within the country.

Kaizen Gaming Peru was the first company to receive authorization, registering its Betano.pe brand on March 27th. The most recent registration was Jackpotcity.pe, registered by Baytree Interactive Limited on August 16th.

In June, Yuri Guerra, General Director of Casino Games and Slot Machines, stated that 80 companies had submitted a total of 145 applications, with only 43 having been authorized at that time.

Guerra explained that authorized companies have 90 days to complete their compliance processes, which include homologating their platforms and gaming programs. Subsequently, they must formalize their commercial operations.

The Peruvian regulator previously announced the creation of the Directorate of Virtual Gaming Authorization, which is responsible for iGaming licenses. This directorate comprises a director, legal experts, financial specialists, and a business administrator.

The Directorate of Supervision will remain a single unit for both land-based and online sectors, with an increase in the number of inspectors and supervisors, who will be trained to audit iGaming companies.

MINCETUR also announced that the Ibero-American Gaming Summit will hold its ninth edition in Lima on May 27-28, 2025, under the theme “Innovation and Regulation: The Future of Gaming in Latam.”
