Liam Kinsella
Hi, I’m Liam Kinsella, a 38-year-old Irishman with a lifelong love for sport and a career shaped by the fast-moving world of iGaming. I’ve spent the majority of my professional life in the industry, working across everything from operations and customer experience to product and innovation. My passion for iGaming was sparked when I was a teenager after attending my first race night at Dundalk Stadium. I’ll never forget the atmosphere, the intensity, and the connection people had to the sport. It was electric. That night opened my eyes to a world where entertainment, competition, and community all came together. Since then, I’ve worked with some fantastic teams and brands, helping to create engaging experiences that bring that same thrill to players around the globe. Outside of work, I’m a big sports fan. Rugby, football, racing, even a bit of darts. I’ve also got a soft spot for gardening; there’s something therapeutic about switching off and spending a few hours with the plants. When I’m not outdoors, I’m usually reading - anything from sports biographies to thrillers. I’m proud to be part of the global tech and gaming space, and I’m always looking for new ways to push the boundaries of what iGaming can offer.

Brazilian Regulator Suspends Provisional iGaming Authorizations

Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) has suspended the provisional authorizations of four companies seeking to operate iGaming platforms in the country. The affected companies are Pixbet Soluções Tecnológicas (encompassing Pixbet, Flabet, and Bet da Sorte), Caixa Loterias (Betcaixa, Megabet, and Xbet Caixa), TQJ-Par (Baú Bingo, Tele Sena Bet, and Bet Do Milhão), and 7MBR LTDA (Cbet). The SPA stated that the suspensions were due to the companies’ failure to submit the required technical documentation and certificates.

TQJ Responds to Suspension

TQJ-Par, in which Grupo Sílvio Santos holds a minority stake through Sisan Participações, has issued a statement addressing the suspension. The company clarified its position within the licensing process.

“TQJ is in the process of obtaining a license from the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) to operate in the regulated gaming and betting market in Brazil in 2025, and that it has already made the payment of the grant within the legal deadlines established by the Government.”

TQJ emphasized that, unlike some other platforms, it anticipates launching its operations in the second half of 2025, after completing all authorization requirements. The company explained that its suspension is a result of still finalizing its operational processes and not being included in the initial list of approved companies, which comprised operators ready to begin operations in early 2025.

The company stated its commitment to:

  • Complying with all legal and operational requirements.
  • Maintaining integrity.
  • Protecting bettors.
  • Adhering to strict Responsible Gaming rules.

TQJ aims to create a safe, transparent, and responsible betting experience for Brazilian consumers.

Silvio Santos Group’s Perspective

The Silvio Santos Group believes that regulation will benefit the market by fostering a competitive and reliable environment, while also contributing to Brazil’s economic development.
