Italian Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Gambling Operations

In a major nationwide operation conducted between May 20th and 31st, 2025, the Italian Customs and Monopoly Agency (ADM), in collaboration with the State Police, Carabinieri, and Guardia di Finanza, targeted illegal gambling activities across Italy. The initiative, coordinated by the CoPReGI (Committee for the Prevention and Repression of Illegal Gambling), involved inspections of 618 businesses, including betting shops, recharge points, commercial establishments, and private clubs with AWP (amusement with prizes) machines.

Operation Results:

  • 22 illegal betting centers uncovered
  • 149 gambling devices seized, including slot machines and other irregular devices
  • 35 totems and 20 PCs confiscated, used for accessing unauthorized gambling sites
  • 46 individuals reported to judicial authorities
  • 231 administrative violations identified
  • Fines totaling over €5.7 million issued

The joint operation highlighted the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between the ADM and law enforcement agencies, leveraging advanced technologies.
